How to unlock a PDF

  1. Choose your PDF. Pick the protected file with the button above or drag it onto the box.
  2. Enter the password. Type the password you use to open it. Leave the box empty if it opens without one but blocks printing or copying.
  3. Unlock. Select “Unlock PDF”.
  4. Download. Save the unlocked copy. Your original file isn't changed.

Good to know

  • You need the password. FoxletPDF doesn't crack or guess passwords. It only removes protection you can already open.
  • Only unlock your own files. Use this for files you own or have permission to change.
  • Wrong password? FoxletPDF tells you, and nothing is kept on the server.
  • Private documents. This tool runs on FoxletPDF's server. Files are deleted right after you download the result. For tools that never upload anything, look for ones without the “Uses FoxletPDF server” label.

How your file is handled

This tool needs more than a browser can do, so your file is sent over an encrypted connection to FoxletPDF’s own server. It’s processed with open-source software, kept only in temporary memory, and deleted as soon as you download the result — or after 15 minutes if you don’t. File names and contents are never logged, and no outside AI or conversion service sees your file. See our privacy policy for details.

Frequently asked questions

Is my file uploaded?

Yes. This tool needs FoxletPDF's server, so your file is sent over an encrypted connection, processed, and deleted as soon as you download the result — or after 15 minutes if you don't. We never keep copies or look at the contents.

I forgot the password. Can you open it?

No. FoxletPDF can't recover or bypass forgotten passwords.

What's an owner password?

Some PDFs open freely but block printing or copying. Leave the password empty to remove those restrictions.

Is my password logged?

No. It's used once to open the file and never stored.

Does it change the content?

No. Pages, text and images stay exactly the same; only the protection is removed.
