Split PDF
Cut one PDF into several smaller files — by page ranges, in equal chunks, or one file per page. It all happens in your browser.
- Free, no signup
- No watermark
- Files never leave your device
or drag and drop one PDF here
How to split a PDF
- Choose your PDF. Pick one file with the button above or drag it onto the box. FoxletPDF checks it and counts the pages.
- Pick how to split. Type page ranges such as “1-3, 4-10”, choose a fixed number of pages per file, or make one file for every page. FoxletPDF tells you how many files you will get before you start.
- Split. Select “Split PDF”. A progress bar shows each new file being made.
- Download. Save each file on its own, or grab them all at once as a ZIP.
Tips for splitting
- Not sure where chapters start? Open “Preview pages” to see thumbnails of every page before you type your ranges.
- Use open-ended ranges. “12-” means page 12 to the end, so you don't need to know the exact page count.
- Only need a few pages? Extract Pages lets you tick exactly the pages you want and keep them in one file.
- Your original is safe. Splitting creates new files; the PDF on your device is never changed.
Your files stay on your device
Like every FoxletPDF tool, this one runs inside your browser. Your file is read from your device, processed with open-source PDF libraries (pdf-lib and PDF.js), and handed straight back to you as a download. Nothing is uploaded, logged or stored. See our privacy policy for details.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded when I split a PDF?
No. The PDF is read and split inside your browser. Nothing is sent to our servers and we never see your document.
Can I split a PDF into single pages?
Yes. Choose “Every page” and FoxletPDF makes one PDF per page. Download them one by one or together as a ZIP.
Can the ranges overlap?
Yes. Each range becomes its own file, so “1-5, 3-8” gives you two files that both contain pages 3 to 5.
Is there a page limit?
There's no fixed page limit. Very large files (over 200 MB) are refused because they can crash a browser tab, especially on phones.
Why is my PDF rejected as encrypted?
Password-protected PDFs can't be split without the password. Open the file in your PDF reader, save a copy without the password and split that copy.
Is the quality reduced?
No. Pages are copied as they are — text stays text and images aren't re-compressed.
