or drag and drop two or more PDFs here
How to merge PDF files
- Add your PDFs. Choose two or more files with the button above, or drag them onto the box. You can keep adding files until everything you need is in the list.
- Set the order. Drag a file up or down the list, or use its arrow buttons. The file at the top becomes the first pages of your new PDF. “Sort A–Z” orders the list by file name, which is handy for numbered scans.
- Merge. Select “Merge PDFs”. A progress bar shows each file being added. You can cancel at any time.
- Download. Give the new file a name if you like, then download it. Your original files are not changed.
Tips for a tidy merged PDF
- Name files before you start. Prefixes like “01-cover”, “02-report” and “03-appendix” let you sort the list in one click.
- Unlock protected files first. If a PDF asks for a password when you open it, save an unlocked copy from your PDF reader and merge that copy instead.
- Mixed page sizes are fine. A letter-size report and an A4 form keep their own sizes in the merged file; nothing is stretched or cropped.
- Working with huge scans? Very large PDFs use a lot of memory. If your browser struggles, merge in smaller batches and then merge the results.
Why merging in your browser is more private
FoxletPDF uses pdf-lib, an open-source PDF library, running in a background worker inside your browser. Your files are read straight from your device, the pages are copied into a new document in memory, and the result is handed back to you as a download. No part of your document is sent over the internet, which you can check yourself in your browser’s developer tools. See our privacy policy for more.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. FoxletPDF merges your PDFs inside your web browser. The files are read from your device, combined in memory and saved back to your device. They are never sent to our servers, and we never see, log or store them.
Is Merge PDF really free?
Yes. There is no paid plan, no signup and no watermark on your merged file.
How many PDFs can I merge at once?
Up to 100 files, with a combined size of up to 500 MB and up to 200 MB for any single file. These limits are there because all of the work happens in your browser, and very large jobs can run out of memory, especially on phones.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs?
Not yet. Encrypted or password-protected PDFs can't be combined safely without the password, so FoxletPDF will tell you which file is locked. Open it in your PDF reader, save a copy without the password, then add that copy.
Will my links, bookmarks and form fields be kept?
Each page is copied exactly as it looks, including text, images and vector graphics. Interactive extras such as the original bookmark list (outline) and fillable form fields may not carry over, so check the result if you rely on them.
Does merging reduce the quality of my PDF?
No. Pages are copied as they are, without re-compressing images or converting text to pictures, so the merged file looks the same as the originals.
Can I use Merge PDF on my phone?
Yes. Tap “Choose PDF files” to pick files from your phone or cloud storage, use the up and down arrows to set the order, then tap “Merge PDFs” and download the result.
What happens if one of my files is damaged?
FoxletPDF checks each file as you add it. If a PDF is damaged or can't be read, it is marked with a clear message so you can remove it and carry on with the rest.
