How to repair a PDF
- Choose the damaged PDF. Pick it with the button above or drag it onto the box.
- Repair. Select “Repair PDF”. FoxletPDF rebuilds the file's internal index and structure.
- Download. Save the repaired copy and open it to check the pages.
What repair can and can't do
- Broken structure. Damaged cross-reference tables and missing endings are the most common problems, and they can usually be fixed.
- Missing data. If part of the file was never downloaded, the pages that were in that part can't be brought back.
- Try the original source. If repair doesn't help, download or export the PDF again from where it came from.
- Private documents. This tool runs on FoxletPDF's server. Files are deleted right after you download the result. For tools that never upload anything, look for ones without the “Uses FoxletPDF server” label.
How your file is handled
This tool needs more than a browser can do, so your file is sent over an encrypted connection to FoxletPDF’s own server. It’s processed with open-source software, kept only in temporary memory, and deleted as soon as you download the result — or after 15 minutes if you don’t. File names and contents are never logged, and no outside AI or conversion service sees your file. See our privacy policy for details.
Frequently asked questions
Is my file uploaded?
Yes. This tool needs FoxletPDF's server, so your file is sent over an encrypted connection, processed, and deleted as soon as you download the result — or after 15 minutes if you don't. We never keep copies or look at the contents.
Why won't my PDF open?
Usually because the download or copy was interrupted, or the app that made it wrote an invalid file.
Is repair guaranteed to work?
No. FoxletPDF recovers whatever can be read; badly damaged files may lose pages or fail.
Can it repair password-protected PDFs?
Unlock them first with Unlock PDF, then repair.
Does it change my content?
No. It only rebuilds the file's structure.
