How to remove annotations from a PDF
- Choose your PDF. Pick the file with the button above or drag it onto the box. FoxletPDF counts its annotations by type.
- Choose what to keep. Keep clickable links and fillable form fields, or remove those too.
- Remove. Select “Remove annotations”.
- Download. Save the clean copy. Your original keeps all its comments.
When to remove annotations
- Before sending a final version. Reviewers' comments and highlights can reveal internal discussion.
- Cleaner printing. Some printers print sticky notes and highlights; removing them gives a clean page.
- Keep your working copy. Removed annotations can't be restored, so keep the original.
- What's not affected. Text, images and drawings that are part of the page itself stay untouched.
Your files stay on your device
Like every FoxletPDF tool, this one runs inside your browser. Your file is read from your device, processed with open-source PDF libraries (pdf-lib and PDF.js), and handed straight back to you as a download. Nothing is uploaded, logged or stored. See our privacy policy for details.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Annotations are removed in your browser; the file never leaves your device.
What counts as an annotation?
Comments, sticky notes, highlights, underlines, drawings, shapes, stamps and attachments added on top of the page. Links and form fields are annotations too, so you can choose to keep them.
Will it remove text from the page?
No. Only annotations are removed; the page content stays the same.
Why does it say there are none?
The PDF has no annotations. Marks that look like highlights may be part of the page itself.
Can I remove only some comments?
Not yet — all annotations of the chosen kinds are removed.
