Header and footer ideas
- Reports. Title on the left, date on the right, “Page {page} of {total}” in the footer.
- Confidential documents. Put “Confidential — do not share” in the footer of every page.
- Cover pages. Tick “Leave the first page blank” so your cover stays clean.
- Just page numbers? Add Page Numbers has quick presets if that's all you need.
Your files stay on your device
Like every FoxletPDF tool, this one runs inside your browser. Your file is read from your device, processed with open-source PDF libraries (pdf-lib and PDF.js), and handed straight back to you as a download. Nothing is uploaded, logged or stored. See our privacy policy for details.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Headers and footers are added in your browser; your file never leaves your device.
What placeholders can I use?
{page} for the page number, {total} for the number of pages, {date} for today's date and {file} for the file name.
Will the text overlap my content?
Text is placed in the page margins. If your document has very narrow margins, use the small text size.
Does it work on landscape pages?
Yes. Headers and footers are placed upright on every page, whatever its orientation.
Can I use other languages?
Basic Latin letters, numbers and punctuation work. Other scripts aren't supported yet.
