How to summarize a PDF

  1. Choose your PDF. Pick a file with the button above or drag it onto the box.
  2. Pick a length. Short gives 3 sentences, Medium 7 and Long 12.
  3. Summarize. Select “Summarize”. Scanned pages are read with OCR.
  4. Read or save. Read the summary on the page, copy it, or download it as JSON.

How the summary is made

  • Extractive, not AI. FoxletPDF doesn't write new text. It ranks the document's own sentences with a classic method called TextRank and shows the top ones in their original order.
  • Best for prose. Reports, articles and papers work best. Slides, forms and tables don't have enough full sentences.
  • No outside service. Everything runs on FoxletPDF's own server; no AI company sees your document.
  • Private documents. This tool runs on FoxletPDF's server. Files are deleted right after you download the result. For tools that never upload anything, look for ones without the “Uses FoxletPDF server” label.

How your file is handled

This tool needs more than a browser can do, so your file is sent over an encrypted connection to FoxletPDF’s own server. It’s processed with open-source software, kept only in temporary memory, and deleted as soon as you download the result — or after 15 minutes if you don’t. File names and contents are never logged, and no outside AI or conversion service sees your file. See our privacy policy for details.

Frequently asked questions

Is my file uploaded?

Yes. This tool needs FoxletPDF's server, so your file is sent over an encrypted connection, processed, and deleted as soon as you download the result — or after 15 minutes if you don't. We never keep copies or look at the contents.

Can the summary be wrong?

It can't invent facts, because every sentence comes from your document, but it can miss points. Read the full text for anything important.

Which languages work?

It works best in English. Other languages using spaces between words also work.

Are there limits?

Up to 25 MB and 50 pages, with up to 30 scanned pages read by OCR.
