How to extract data from a PDF
- Choose your PDF. Pick a file with the button above or drag it onto the box.
- Extract. Select “Extract data”. Scanned pages are read with OCR automatically.
- Review. FoxletPDF shows what it found: page, word and table counts, the fields it spotted and more.
- Download. Save the .json file for use in spreadsheets, scripts or databases.
How the extraction works
- Rule-based, not AI. FoxletPDF uses fixed rules and patterns — no AI model and no outside service — so results are predictable.
- Fields. Lines such as “Invoice Number: 1042” become a field with a name and a value.
- Tables. Both ruled tables and neatly aligned columns are detected.
- Private documents. This tool runs on FoxletPDF's server. Files are deleted right after you download the result. For tools that never upload anything, look for ones without the “Uses FoxletPDF server” label.
How your file is handled
This tool needs more than a browser can do, so your file is sent over an encrypted connection to FoxletPDF’s own server. It’s processed with open-source software, kept only in temporary memory, and deleted as soon as you download the result — or after 15 minutes if you don’t. File names and contents are never logged, and no outside AI or conversion service sees your file. See our privacy policy for details.
Frequently asked questions
Is my file uploaded?
Yes. This tool needs FoxletPDF's server, so your file is sent over an encrypted connection, processed, and deleted as soon as you download the result — or after 15 minutes if you don't. We never keep copies or look at the contents.
What's in the JSON file?
Document metadata, statistics, the entities found (emails, phone numbers, links, dates, amounts), fields, and each page's text, paragraphs and tables.
Does it work on invoices and forms?
Often, yes — especially when labels and values are on the same line. Always check important values.
Are there limits?
Up to 25 MB and 50 pages, with up to 30 scanned pages read by OCR.
