How to convert PDF to Excel

  1. Choose your PDF. Pick a file with the button above or drag it onto the box.
  2. Scanned document? Tick the OCR option so FoxletPDF can read tables in page images.
  3. Convert. Select “Convert to Excel”.
  4. Download. Open the .xlsx file in Excel, LibreOffice or Google Sheets.

Tips for clean tables

  • Ruled tables work best. Tables with visible lines are detected most reliably. Aligned columns without lines usually work too.
  • Numbers become numbers. Plain numbers like 1,234.50 are stored as numbers you can add up; codes with leading zeros stay as text.
  • No formulas. Text from the PDF is never turned into a formula, so a cell like “=SUM” can't run anything.
  • Private documents. This tool runs on FoxletPDF's server. Files are deleted right after you download the result. For tools that never upload anything, look for ones without the “Uses FoxletPDF server” label.

How your file is handled

This tool needs more than a browser can do, so your file is sent over an encrypted connection to FoxletPDF’s own server. It’s processed with open-source software, kept only in temporary memory, and deleted as soon as you download the result — or after 15 minutes if you don’t. File names and contents are never logged, and no outside AI or conversion service sees your file. See our privacy policy for details.

Frequently asked questions

Is my file uploaded?

Yes. This tool needs FoxletPDF's server, so your file is sent over an encrypted connection, processed, and deleted as soon as you download the result — or after 15 minutes if you don't. We never keep copies or look at the contents.

What if there are no tables?

The text is exported line by line, split into columns where there are wide gaps.

Does each table get its own sheet?

With OCR switched on, each table gets its own sheet, plus a summary sheet. Without OCR, each page gets its own sheet.

What is OCR?

Optical character recognition reads text from page images, using the open-source Tesseract engine on FoxletPDF's server.

Are there limits?

Up to 50 MB. With OCR: up to 25 MB and 30 scanned pages.
