How to make a booklet

  1. Choose your PDF. Pick the file with the button above or drag it onto the box.
  2. Pick your paper. A4 makes an A5 booklet; US Letter makes a half-letter booklet; A3 makes an A4 booklet.
  3. Make the booklet. FoxletPDF places two pages on each side of every sheet in booklet order, adding blank pages at the end if needed.
  4. Print and fold. Print double-sided with “flip on short edge”, fold the stack in half and staple along the fold.

Tips for booklets

  • Page count. Booklets use multiples of four pages. FoxletPDF adds blank pages at the end to make it up.
  • Thick booklets. More than about 12 sheets gets hard to fold; split long documents into several booklets.
  • Test print first. Print the first two sides to check your printer's double-sided setting.
  • Covers. Want a blank inside cover? Add a blank page after page 1 before making the booklet.

Your files stay on your device

Like every FoxletPDF tool, this one runs inside your browser. Your file is read from your device, processed with open-source PDF libraries (pdf-lib and PDF.js), and handed straight back to you as a download. Nothing is uploaded, logged or stored. See our privacy policy for details.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The booklet is laid out in your browser; your file never leaves your device.

Which printer setting should I use?

Double-sided printing with “flip on short edge” (sometimes called “short-edge binding”).

Why are there blank pages?

A folded booklet always has a multiple of four pages, so blanks are added at the end.

Will the pages be smaller?

Yes — two pages share each side of the sheet, so each page is printed at about 70% size.

Are links kept?

Pages are redrawn onto the booklet sheets, so links and form fields aren't kept.
